Making your brand unforgettable off social

Hi! I’m Claire,

Hairstylist turned salon communication strategist.

Welcome to my world of beauty and entrepreneurship! I'm Claire Monroe, a passionate advocate for elevating the beauty industry through innovative solutions and personalized experiences. With over a decade of hands-on experience as a hairstylist turned business maven, I bring a unique blend of creativity and strategic insight to every aspect of my work. Join me as we embark on a journey to redefine standards, inspire confidence, and unlock the full potential of beauty professionals worldwide.

I have been in the beauty industry for two decades.

My career has taken me from an internship in New York City with renowned stylists to working in a top salon in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. I have educated with Kevin Murphy, earned certifications in Redken Color, Invisible Bead Extensions, Laced Hair Extensions, and Bumble & Bumble Design, and built an apprenticeship program for a top commission salon in Virginia. My work has been published on the cover of Northern Virginia Magazine, and in 2020 I opened a high-end salon suite built around luxury service, trust, and a low-maintenance schedule that works for both me and my clients.

What really fuels me goes beyond titles and milestones. I have always been fascinated by the bigger picture of our industry: how trends emerge, what new products and tools are changing the game, and how communities of stylists are coming together to share and grow. Most of all, I love passing that knowledge forward.

I know firsthand how hard it is to juggle clients, content, systems, and a personal life. I built my business while raising my son, carving out time for my husband, traveling to new places, enjoying wine tastings (my husband and I are WSET-certified), and making space for all the fun things. That balance is why I created my consulting agency: to help other beauty professionals design businesses that feel polished on the outside and manageable on the inside.

Through done-for-you systems, email strategy, and ongoing content support, I help salon owners, stylists, and educators create client experiences that build loyalty, ease, and growth. Because your business should not only look beautiful, it should also support the life you want to live outside of it.

Podcast Appearances: Sharing Insights and Expertise

Claire Monroe - Beauty School 2.0

  • Claire Monroe is a salon studio owner, educator, and so much more. She joins us to talk about her journey over the past 15 years being a hairstylist in San Francisco, New York, and Virginia. The idea that our career at 19 will be fulfilling at 32 is one of the many things we get stuck on as hairstylists. Claire has a passion for helping hairstylists navigate this industry in a way that honors them while at the same time creating kickass careers; what I wouldn't do to go back and take Claire's course right out of beauty school. It's everything they don't tell you in hair school...

How I Grow My Clientele with Email

  • Tune in to hear Claire (@clairemonroehairco) tell you why social media is not as important as email in growing and managing your business!

    Key Takeaways:

Claire has worked in a suite, a small town, a salon, and a big city!Right before COVID, Claire became independent, renting at a studio, and then COVID-19 caused her to go to a suite!Suite owners have to do cleaning, hair, bookings, marketing, etc...it can be very overwhelming!Using email enabled Claire to manage her clientele and stay connected, more so than Instagram.Instagram is not going to get you the engagement that emails will.Suite vs. salon stylists should consider reducing their administrative work by focusing less on social media and more on connecting with customers.Create an email system to stay connected. Start with a welcome email with location, directions, getting to know you, and other things to know. Make sure your pricing is correct; it will likely differ from a salon.Schedule a day to handle your business, laundry, marketing, and admin time per week...you are a business owner now; you have to work on your business and not just in your business. The extra day gives you wiggle room to handle clients if you cancel on clients at the last minute.Take time for yourself, enjoy your life, and feel confident in working with systems in place to help you manage your business; email is a must-have!

🔅 Stop undercharging your clients! You are losing lots of money! 65% of hairdressers in the UK are self-employed, hence the rise of salon suites!

  • The Hairdresser Strong Show is all about Salon Owners, Rising Stylists, and Seasoned Stylists sharing their experiences, successes, failures, and advice to inform, educate, and empower their Fellow Hairdresser. We won’t stop until we are all: Hairdresser Strong.
